Aldermaston - no practice Thursday 14th May

Please note that there will be no practice at Aldermaston on Thursday 14th May due to an Ascension Day service.

No practice Monday 27th April

Due to electrical work in the tower there will be no practice at Newbury on Monday 27th April.

No practice Mondays 30 Mar / 6 Apr

There will not be a practice at Newbury tower on the evenings of Monday 30th March (Holy Week) or Monday 6th April (Bank Holiday).

Sunday service ringing will continue as normal.

Bucklebury - no practice 26th Feb

The practice at Bucklebury on 26th February has been cancelled as they are attempting a quarter peal instead.

Branch Dinner - Saturday 28th February

The Quarter Peal Week will end with a grand Branch Dinner on Saturday February 28th at The Furze Bush, near Newbury. Partners and Guests are welcome to come along. The cost is £25 per person, with a £5 deposit payable in advance.

Branch Outing to Hampshire - Saturday 18th April 2015

Now that 2015 calendars have been opened it is time to book in for this year's Branch Outing. The outing is a great opportunity to catch up with ringers from across the branch and ring at some different towers.

Branch Practice & Branch AGM

Hungerford tower will be hosting the Branch Practice and Branch AGM on Saturday 7th March.

Ringing will take place from 3pm to 4pm. This will be followed by a 30 minute service, and then tea will be served. The 2015 Annual General Meeting of the Newbury Branch will start at 5:15pm. Branch members are encouraged to attend.

Ringing in the New Year at Newbury tower

Newbury tower rang in the New Year with a great turnout of tower members, regular ringers from other towers, friends and family of ringers, and also both the Mayor of Newbury and her predecessor.

No Thatcham practice - 30th December

The practice at Thatcham on Tuesday 30th December has been cancelled.

Sunday 21st December - evening ringing at St Nic's

In addition to the usual 9:30am-10am ringing on Sunday 21st we will be ringing at 5:30pm prior to the 6pm Carol Service.

Quarter Peal Week / Branch Dinner - February 2015

The 2015 Quarter Peal Week will run from Sunday 22nd to Saturday 28th February. The aims of the week are:
- To involve as many Branch Members as possible.
- To attempt quarter peals in as many of the ringable Branch towers as possible.
- To promote bell-ringing and gain local publicity.

Goodbye to Kingsclere ringers

For the past few weeks Newbury tower has been acting as temporary home to a number of ringers from Kingsclere while their tower was inaccessible due to maintenance. Kingsclere tower is ringable again and so we will say goodbye to them. It was nice to have a busy tower with new faces - over 20 ringers for some of the Monday evening practices!

Christmas & New Year ringing

The ringing that is planned for Christmas and the New Year at St Nic's in addition to the usual Sunday mornings and Monday evenings:
- 24th December 11pm (prior to Midnight Communion service at 11:30pm)
- 25th December 7:30am (prior to Traditional Holy Communion at 8am)
- 25th December 9:30am (prior to Family Communion at 10am)
- 31st December 11:30pm (we will be ringing in the New Year!)

ODG 10 Bell Striking Competition - results

The Oxford Guild 10 bell striking competition was held on Saturday 22nd November. The Newbury Branch put in a team and out of 8 entries, we came 7th, a very respectable result and one that gave a good account of ourselves considering the opposition.

9th November - no ringing

Due to the need to avoid the sound of the bells drowning out Remembrance Day events in the town centre, there will be no ringing on Sunday 9th November.
